Venice - so much water....

Ciao from Venice,
This place is really different to anywhere else we have been. The city is surrounded by water and all the people who live here have a boat. Here's some photos to give you an idea of what it's like...

This was our last day of doing 'touristy' things. Alice had another concert that we went to in the evening and then it was a 2 hour flight to London to catch our connection with Air NZ to go back home. It's been a fabulous holiday...I hope you have enjoyed being with us vicariously through this page.

The musical city of Verona

Buon pomeriggio, (Good afternoon),
The trip on the train was even quicker than I thought - only an hour and we were here - in beautiful Verona. We got quite a surprise when we got to our B&B - not only did the lady not speak any English, we also discovered we had 3 flights of stairs to go up - no lift in this place - our bags weighed 23kgs each so there was a bit of huffing and puffing but we made it!
After having a rest it was time to see Alice and have a look around - here's what we found....

We really enjoyed this little city......next stop Venice...

Milan, a city of contrasts

Buonasera, come sta? ( Good evening, how are you?)
I really like it here. As well as having the most amazing cathedral I have ever seen, it also has some great places to window shop - I did buy a couple of things but could have gone crazy if I didn't have a weight limit on my bags.....we traveled easily around by catching an underground train. When we popped out into the open, this is what we saw....

The time here seemed to go by quickly.  Grazie milli (Thanks a million) Milano.
Look out for my next post  - it will be from Verona, it's only a quick trip on the fast train from here....

City of Wonders

Bongiorno, come sta, (Good morning, how are you?)

We are now in Milan. We managed to find and catch the Frecciarossa (Red Arrow). It took 3 hours to get here. We travelled 570 kilometres in that time. Sometimes we were traveling at nearly 300 kms per hour!!  It was  a bit hard to get any photos.  Our train took us really close to our hotel which isn't in the city so we had a relaxing day just getting ourselves orientated. Our tour to Lake Como the next day was pretty amazing! The scenery is quite different from anything we have seen so far......

My next post is of the city of Milan. They say MILANO. It's my favourite place so far.....

Roma - a city of ruins

Buongiorno, mattina siamo qui!
( good morning, we are here!)

We had a pretty scary drive into Rome - tiny streets to go down and very bumpy with lots of cobblestones- our cab driver didn't speak English so we were a bit nervous about where we were going....I was too busy holding onto my seat to take photos... After 50 minutes we made it to  our lovely hotel for 3 nights- Diana Roof Garden. Yesterday we did a 7 hour walk around the city. Here's what we saw.....

Tomorrow we are taking a train ride north... I am sure someone from Rimu class will be interested to see my next post....

London,England

Hello from a very warm and sunny London.
It's great  to finally get here. We are a bit tired after such a long flight but have managed to pack in lots of walking and touring over the last couple of days....after finding the place where we are staying we decided to have a walk around Hyde Park yesterday  - it's about 5 times bigger than Hagley. Here's what we found there....

Our next day was spent exploring the central city...lots of walking, catching the trains and buses....we saw some amazing places....

Now we are in Rome...keep a look out for my next post of what we have seen here.

The Flight

Kia ora,
Welcome to my blog. This is where I am going to write about my holiday to Europe. First of all, let me tell you about my flight....
We decided to buy some seats up the front for the trip to London...with over 300 people on board it was great to have the leg room and be able to lie down....

Next time I post I will be in London...
